Stage 4: It's Time to Du it!

USAT Sanctioned Duathlon Race

The Duathlon race is a USAT Sanctioned Run, Bike, Run event. The timed event begins with a short run before transitioning in to an open road bike course, culminating with a 3.3 mile closed road run. The event is for participants 15 years and older suitable for first time athletes as a Stage 2 introduction to multisports and Tri-Oswego competitive events.

  • Run: 1.1 mile closed road run
  • Bike: 16.4 miles through the city of Oswego, SUNY Campus, and rolling country-side
  • Run: 3.1 mile (5K) closed road run culminating at the event finish line overlooking Lake Ontario

Post Event BBQ, Vendors, and Entertainment!

The Maines Foods and Michelob Ultra Food and Beverage area overlooking scenic Lake Ontario will be open for the Post Race BBQ for Athletes & Volunteers. BBQ will be available for purchase if you did not receive a ticket as part of your event entry. Michelob Ultra and other adult beverages available for purchase along with non-alcoholic beverages throughout the day.

Visit health and fitness related vendors and childrens activities throughout the event as a spectator or after you've finished the races. Awards will be distributed as races complete and live music will be playing in the afternoon. Free children's fun run will take place towards the end of the days events.

What are USAT Sanctioned Events?

The term “sanction” refers to the compliance of a multisport event to USA Triathlon’s safety requirements. Safety plans, course maps, and event details must be submitted for review by experienced USA Triathlon staff. This ensures events are safe and fair competition environments.

What is included in registration?

The registration fee includes event entry (nonrefundable), Long Sleeve or Short Sleeve Technical event shirt (depending on registration date), Race bib, Finisher's Medal, Free post event BBQ entry, Free beer or beverage, and Top finishers prizes

Tri-Oswego Duathlon


  • Run

    Check-in & Stage

    6am-8am Transition Area opens to ATHLETES ONLY. Transition staging closes at 8am sharp. Late entries can not be accepted at this time and all athletes must move to pre-swim staging.

  • Segment 1 - Run Launch

    8:30am First run wave is launched with subsequent waves starting in 5 minute increments. Participants must follow USAT Rules.

  • Bike


    Athletes who have completed the 1st run segment enter the transition area to immediatly transition to the bike course. Athletes can not mount their bike until crossing the mount line without risk of a rule violation.

  • Bike Course

    Immediatly after transitioning athletes begin the 16.4 mile closed and open road course. Athletes should familiarize themselves with the route and be mindful of runners on the course. USAT rules apply.

  • Run


    Athletes must dismount before crossing the dismount line without risk of a rule violation. Athletes will then transition and immediatly begin the run segment of the event.

  • Segment 2 - Run to the finish

    Runners will exit transitions and begin the run segment 2 observing signage and staying within coned lanes as necessary to safely allow bike traffic. The event finish line is located at Breitbeck Park.
